You said it ...

I just bought the Torque that you had down at the Florida Rowing Center this past winter. I rowed it in Florida and loved it and now that I have it in New Hampshire I am thrilled with it. MORE

I was able to go out during lunch for the first row. It really does row great just out of the box. In just a few strokes it felt like an old friend. MORE

The boat is AMAZING!

After all the hullabaloo of getting me in the boat there was not one second that I was in control of the oars that I felt even remotely 'tippy'. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

Basic RACER

Overview

Keeping it simple. A racing shell for Every Body !

The Basic is an honest boat; a quality racer, it is Levator's most affordable rowing shell. The Basic Racer shares the same advanced hull design as the Standard Racer and Personal Racer but without their elite-class hardware, customization or colour options. It’s simplicity is alluring:

"I just sold a boat to a man who saw the Basic and instantly knew it was the right boat for him. It’s the old story he told me, "I’m never going to race. I’m not going to go to the World Championships. I’m not even going to go to a head race. I’m going to my cottage and I don’t see any reason why I should spend a thousand dollars more for any extras." I built this boat for that kind of need. The Basic is a boat that has the core strengths of a racer, that can still fly, it can race, but is priced in a recreational boat class."

– Jürgen Kaschper, boat designer

Even with it’s low price, the Basic is still a racer, which means it will continue to challenge and excite the rower, long after they would have become bored with a recreational single.

"I managed to find a way to build the Basic to retain the design strengths of the other Endurance Series boats and keep it in an affordable price range. But I kept the best of the racer in it. It’s not a flat boat. It has the lines and form of a racer, is comfortable for new scullers, and it will endure as their skills increase. Part of the problem with recreational boats is that after a month of rowing they cease to challenge the rower and the rower becomes bored. I wanted the Basic to be accommodating, but still have that racer in it that would keep it interesting for a long time. And not just for novices but experienced rowers as well."

– Jürgen Kaschper, boat designer

The durability of the Basic Racer is another appealing feature. The hull is built with structural glass - coremat - kevlar with a laminate gel coat surface. The hardware is selected from strong, high-quality components. All these considerations make the Basic Racer not only a better alternative to similarly priced recreational class boats but a better alternative to used racing shells.

"I sold a Basic to one person who was searching for a used boat. He told me that he looked all over at 3-year-old to 10-year-old elite racing singles and he realized that for the same price he could have a better boat that will last longer in the Basic. And it’s brand new with a full warranty. It’s not past it’s prime or abused. I did not design this boat to sell against used boats, but I can see why people who are looking for a used boat because of price would rather have a brand new Basic instead. It just makes sense on many levels."

Testimonials

I was able to give the Basic Racer a "test drive". Quite simply...SHE'S FAST!!! I am most anxious to work on my technique. I have some improving to do but one thing is sure, the Basic will more than hold up her end of the deal.

Bob Franks was most helpful with the delivery. I am totally delighted!

Thanks

PS The shoes are perfect.

I wanted to first of all let you know that my Levator Basic is keeping me fit and very happy at my cottage on the Moon River in Muskoka. It handles great and is even undeterred by the waves and boat wakes on windy or busy weekends. I am delighted with it!

I wanted you to know that I am totally satisfied with my 'new' single -- it's exactly what I needed. BTW, it feels very familiar -- no break in time for me! I especially appreciate your extra effort in installing the strokecoach wiring. I must admit, on my little puddle of a lake, reviewing numbers will play a big role in keeping me from getting bored!!

I did the unthinkable today...while fully detached from reality, I drove my "Basic" up onto rocks! Yes...the bow was 2 feet higher than the stern, there was major daylight under the cockpit. My 240 lb girth was in the seat with nothing under my hull, 'neath my back side but air. And, the outcome???...nothing but a few scratches in the hull...she's fine! You build one TOUGH boat, sir!

Seriously, I "Zenned Out" while moving nicely; 2:40@23 spm. The rocks were mica laden, plenty jagged with cutting surfaces and not one drop inside. Further inspection from a qualified individual netted the same...hull OK.

Amazed,

Joe Kelenfy

Thanks for the time on Saturday. I love the boat. The maiden voyage went flawlessly.

I am excited.

Now that I've rowed my "new" boat, I can let you know that it is amazing! I love it. I'll try and remember to bring my camera next time...should have this morning, the lake was like glass.

I received my levator single spring of 2007 and was estatic because of the design. Never being in a single before and being able to set the shell up was surprising. The smoothness of run in the shell, and power you feel is amazing. Keep up the good work.

Although I've had my new boat for about a month, last night was the first time I could take Wasser Drache out for its maiden voyage! Wind, current, and water depth were finally just right. It was a great row! The boat and I had a great connection and everything "clicked."

Ducks and Canadian geese swam around as I rowed and a fly even hitched a ride with me...it landed on my stern and stayed there during the entire row!!! It is an amazing difference finally being in a boat that fits me...I don't have to overcompensate now! For example, I can pull the oars into my navel instead of high into my chest. I especially like how the smooth deck curves down behind my ankles...usually the backs of my legs get beat up from rubbing on the rough edges of other boats. I also really like the step-down (makes getting out very easy and a great place for my water bottle), the handle, and I felt very stable going out in it for the first time. I'll have to play around with tweaking the adjustments to get everything just right, but I love it and had an instant bond with it! Oh, I also got lots of compliments on the color!

Thanks so much for the beautiful boat!

Jennifer M.

Thanks Joe is BEAUTIFUL!!! And the rigger is like its own work of art. I used to do metal sculpture in the old days and I always love anything made of metal and I had to just keep stroking it! Love that my name is on it as well.

Al, the truck driver was great...such a nice guy. Kept me very informed as to his whereabouts.
